Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-07
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information RentNiseko collects, why we collect it, how it is stored and shared, and how you can make a privacy request. RentNiseko is operated from Australia.
1. Information we collect
- Owner account details — the email you sign in with (via magic link) and the contact details you provide (name, contact email, optional phone) so we can forward enquiries.
- Listing content — everything you enter about a property (title, description, area, specs, rates, availability) and any photos you upload.
- Enquiry messages — when a renter uses a contact form, we collect their name, email, optional desired dates, and message.
- Listing event history — an append-only log of listing events (created, published, updated, enquiry received, and similar).
2. Why we collect it
To operate the Site: to publish approved listings, to pass enquiries from renters to owners, to let owners manage their listings, and to let owners generate an audit report evidencing that a property was marketed for rent (used for Australian tax apportionment purposes).
3. How enquiries are shared
When you submit a contact form, your message and the details you provide are sent to the relevant owner by email, with the reply-to set to your email so they can respond to you directly. We do not display an owner’s email address publicly.
4. Where your data is stored and processed
We use third-party service providers to run the Site:
- Supabase — database (Postgres), file storage for photos, and authentication (magic-link sign-in).
- Resend — sending transactional email, including enquiry notifications to owners.
These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside Australia.
5. Retention
We keep account, listing, and enquiry data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the Site. The listing event history is append-only: entries are never edited or deleted, because it is the source of truth for the audit report and is retained as tax apportionment evidence. As a result, some records persist even after a listing is removed.
6. Your choices and privacy requests
You can ask us to access or correct your personal information, or ask questions about how it is handled, by emailing nick@topham.com.au. Note that entries in the append-only audit history cannot be altered, though we will work with you on any concern. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
